The 22-250 Remington is a varmint cartridge that offers performance far in excess of the .223 Remington (which generally propels a 55gr bullet at 3100 ft/sec, compared to 3600 ft/sec).
This cartridge is also more versatile than most varmint cartridges, in that, if using a limited expansion bullet, game animals up to and including deer can be humanely taken with this cartridge.
