The 7.62x39mm Soviet cartridge is likely the most popular cartridge on Earth, save for the .22lr, as it is used in a preponderance of Eastern Bloc assault rifles, such as the AK47 series and the SKS rifles.
Ballistically, it is roughly the same as the 30-30WIN, featuring a 123gr bullet at 2300 ft/sec. This cartridge is very useful for self-defense and for light-skinned game, when using a heavy bullet with a small expanded diameter.
