Ammunition : Aguila Colibri 20gr powderless pointed .22lr cartridge
Rifle : Ruger 10/22
Calibration : All depths corrected (From 12.1cm @ 593ft/sec and 10.4cm @ 573 ft/sec respectively)
Shot 1 - Impacted at unrecorded velocity. Penetrated to 1.6" and was recovered at 0.220" average diameter, no deformation or flipping of the bullet occurred. Shot fired from 15' distance.
Shot 2 - Impacted at 333 ft/sec, penetrated to 4.5". Recovered diameter was 0.221". Shot fired at 6' distance.
Internet lore has it that the Colibri ammunition was intended for usage in a handgun - rifle bores are supposed to slow the bullet down too much. This may have been the case here - I have gotten some Colibris stuck in some .22lr rifle bores, where the same rifle had subsequently continued to fire the bullets without incident. The failure of shot 1 to penetrate even half of the distance of shot 2 is attributed to a dimensional mismatch between the bore of the tested rifle and the specific Colibri cartridge that was fired.
