The .22LR is the cheapest, most commonly available ammunition to be found. While the performance of this cartridge in ballistic gelatin is correspondingly among the least effective of all cartridges, non-expanding bullets fired from pistols and moderately-expanding bullets fired from rifles can almost always be counted on to meet FBI performance standards.
