.38 Super

The .38 Super cartridge is slightly longer than the 9x19mm and uses the same 0.355” diameter bullets.  It can be considered to be able to propel a 9mm bullet of the same weight 100 ft/sec faster than the 9x19mm, giving it terminal ballistics in the neighborhood of the .357SIG.

If a handgun chambered for this cartridge and using a double-column magazine were available, it is conceivable that this combination would give a slightly more advantageous combination of magazine capacity and terminal ballistics than a .357SIG, due to the moderately greater magazine capacity of the .38 Super.
