Paintball velocity variation from a paintball

gun using CO2 and compressed air

A Tippmann SL-68 paintball gun was utilized for this test, firing the test sequence with a fully-charged 9oz. CO2 tank installed and later firing the same test sequence with a fully-charged 3000psi compressed air tank installed.  The test was started with 3 rapid shots, prior to the initiation of the recorded shots, to help start the marker on its way to reaching ‘thermal steady state’.  30 seconds were allowed between shots for the gas system to (perhaps) recover its ‘steady state’ temperature.  Paintballs were new Diablo Formula 13 paintballs.
