The 9x23mm Winchester cartridge fires the same diameter bullets as a 9mm Luger handgun, but the larger powder capacity allowed by the 4mm longer cartridge case allows the velocity of the 9mm bullets (of equal weight) to equal those fired from a .357 Magnum revolver.
This gives the shooter the terminal ballistics of a .357 Magnum, with the recoil reduction and greater magazine capacity of the semi-automatic pistol. |
